Creating Custom Courses in the Training Marketplace
The Course Creator lets you digitize your own training materials. This article explains how to combine your videos, documents, and quizzes into a structured, trackable course for your team
Table of Contents:
Preparing Content in the Library
Before building the course structure, you need to upload the individual pieces (videos, images or documents) to the Library.
-
Create a Module: From your Admin Dashboard, navigate to the Library tab and click Add Module in the top right corner. Give your module a descriptive name (e.g., "Coupling Video" or "Safety Policy") and click Save.
-
Upload and Configure Content: Select your content type (Video, Document, etc.) and upload your file. If you are uploading a video, we highly recommend clicking Options to toggle on Enable Video Track (forces the user to watch the full video) or Limit Playback Speed, then click Save. (Insert Screenshot of Video Options toggle menu)
Assembling the Course
Once your modules are ready, you can build the actual course container.
-
Create and Name the Course: Head over to the Courses tab, click Actions > Create New Course, enter your desired Course Name, and click Save.
-
Add Your Content: Open the Content tab and click Add from Library. Search for the modules or question pools you created in the previous section and select them to add them to your course list.
-
Organize the Flow: Drag and drop your items to set the learning order. We recommend enabling Sequencing, which "locks" the order and ensures users complete one item before moving to the next.
Previewing and Publishing
-
Settings and Certificates: Check the Info tab to adjust enrollment settings or attach a completion certificate. If you have a custom certificate uploaded to the system, you can search for and attach it here.
-
Preview and Publish: Click Actions > Preview to test the course flow yourself. this is crucial because you cannot edit content once it's live. When you are happy with the setup, click Actions > Publish to make the course available for enrollment.
Additional Information/Tips
-
The "Publishing" Lock: Once a course is published, the content is locked to preserve historical data. You cannot add or remove modules from a live course.
-
How to Edit a Live Course: If you need to update a published course, go to your Courses list, hover over the course, and select Copy this course as a draft. Make your edits to the draft, publish the new version, and then archive the old one.
-
Quizzes: If you want to add an exam, check out our guide on creating question pools first, then add the pool to your course using the steps above.
