Regulatory vs Company Compliance

A guide to understanding your new compliance scores and audit readiness

Overview

DriverHub now separates compliance into two categories (Regulatory & Company compliance) so you can see at a glance whether your fleet is truly audit-ready. Instead of one blended compliance number that mixes high-stakes regulatory requirements with internal company items, you now get three clear scores: Regulatory Compliance, Company Compliance, and Overall Compliance.

How To Configure

You can configure a record type as a regulatory or company compliance record by going to Config → Records → Record Types and selecting the record type you wish to edit. Find the compliance type setting and choose the appropriate option from the dropdown.

Why This Changed

A single blended compliance score hides important differences between record types. Under the old model, a missing HR training counted the same as an expired CDL even though only one of those puts you at risk in an audit.

That created real problems:

  • Regulatory gaps got buried. Critical items were diluted by company records, so genuine risk didn't stand out.
  • Work got misprioritized. Teams couldn't easily tell which non-compliant records actually mattered most.
  • Accounts could look "okay" but be at risk. A fleet at 75% blended compliance might be sitting at only 20% regulatory compliance weeks away from an audit failure no one saw coming.

With separate categories, regulatory compliance becomes a clean, defensible signal. 100% regulatory compliance means audit-ready. Anything less is an actionable gap.

The Three Compliance Scores

Your home dashboard now reflects three calculations:

  1. Regulatory Compliance: Your audit-readiness signal. This covers record types tied to regulatory requirements (for example, CDL, MVR, drug testing).
  2. Company Compliance: Internal and corporate governance items (for example, HR trainings and company-specific records).
  3. Overall Compliance: Your combined score across all record types.

How Record Types Are Categorized

Every record type now carries a required compliance_category value of either regulatory or company.

To help you see value from day one, the Avatar team uses AI and human review to classify every record type currently in your system so your three compliance scores are accurate and live as soon as the feature is available to your account.

⚠️ Recommended:

Review your record category assignments. While we've pre-classified every record type for you, we recommend reviewing the compliance category assigned to each of your records to confirm it's correct. Your fleet may use record types in ways that differ from the default classification, and an accurate category is what makes your regulatory score a reliable audit-readiness signal.

Reading Your Dashboard

Compliance tiles are color-coded so you can assess your standing instantly:

Color

Score Range

🟢 Green

90% and above

🟡 Yellow

70%–89%

🔴 Red

69% and below

You can also view additional compliance tiles on your legacy compliance dashboard.

Finding and Acting on Non-Compliant Records

Preset saved views turn your existing browser screens into prioritized work lists. You can filter for:

  • Regulatory non-compliant drivers and records
  • Company non-compliant drivers and records
  • All non-compliant drivers and records

This lets your team focus first on the gaps that affect audit readiness.

What This Means for You

  • True audit readiness. Regulatory gaps surface as their own metric, making audit readiness easy to measure, explain, and act on.
  • A real health signal. Regulatory compliance becomes a leading indicator of platform value, adoption, and risk.
  • Built-in tasking. Saved views make it clear where to focus first.
  • Sharper reporting. Regulatory out-of-compliance counts move to the top of the dashboard, and Business Insight Reviews (BIRs) gain category-level trendlines and risk levels tied to real operational exposure.

Who This Is For

This update is for all customers and managers responsible for audit readiness and anyone who needs to know, with confidence, whether their fleet would pass an audit today.
